Prof. Njagi addressing the first annual international conference at Kericho Tea Hotel

The Director of Research, Linkages and Extension, Prof. Peter Njagi has named a new organizing committee in preparation for the University's 2nd Annual International Conference to be held in the third week of October or early November 2017.

UoK organized a very successful 1st Annual International Conference that was held on October 26 - 28 at the Kericho Tea Hotel and attracted over 150 delegates. The conference was graced by prominent scholars and leaders, including the Governor of Kericho County, Prof. Paul Chepkwony.

The new team is chaired by Prof. Joel Koech and comprise of the following members:

  4. Dr. Hellen W. Sang     - School of Business & Economics
  5. Dr. George K. Mbira    - School of Agriculture & Biotechnology
  6. Dr. Anne Sitienei        - School of Natural Resource & Environmental Management
  7. Dr. Monica Rukwaro   - School of Information Science & Knowledge Management
  8. Dr. Naaman Rop         - School of Arts & Social Sciences
  9. Mr. Simon Macharia    - Kapkatet Campus
  10. Mr. Daniel Rop            - ICT

The Terms of Reference for the new team include:

  • Review the recommendation of the 1st Annual Conference
  • Identify the themes and sub-themes of the conference
  • Decide on the specific dates and venues
  • Draw a budget for hosting the conference
  • Prepare advertisement materials including posters
  • Send out call for papers and provide guidelines on formats for written papers, presentations, and posters
  • Identify keynote speakers, session Chairs and Rapporteurs
  • Compile a comprehensive programme for the conference
  • Appoint a subcommittee to have the proceedings of the conference processed
