Ms Beatrice Mwende Mutisya  of School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, publishes an article entitled Thick grass mulching improves soil moisture and weed control without improving yield and quality of container grown tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) under plastic tunnel conditions. The article was previously presented at an International Conference held at Kibabii University in 2017. The article is an output of a successful planning and execution of undergraduate student special project.  Ms Mutisya, graduated from the University of Kabianga in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Currently, she is working as an Agronomist at Akili Farm in Kirinyaga County.

The publication is a testimony that with dedication and hard work young scholars under effective supervision have the potential to actively and effectively contribute to the improvement of livelihoods though research and sharing of agricultural information. University of Kabianga believes that the numerical strengths of youths if harnessed would greatly improve food and nutritional security.
