fbpx University’s 6th SGC Sworn in | University of Kabianga | Innovation and Excellence

The University of Kabianga newly elected 6th Student Governing Council have been sworn in by the University Legal Officer Ms. R. Ayuma in a ceremony attended by the University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Kipng’eno. The Governing Council was elected in the recently concluded Virtual elections at the University. Prof. Kipng’eno congratulated the leaders and thanked them for conducting their campaigns maturely and peacefully.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony, Prof. Kipng’eno appreciated the outgoing governing council for the good work and maturity they displayed in dealing with pertinent issues and urged the new governing council to copy and learn from them. He reminded them that they are now part and parcel of the Management of Kabianga, thus should be solution solvers and not problem creators.

In his spesch, UoK DVC A&SA Prof. Omwenga asked the council be guided by the three P’s; People, Purpose and Progress as they  take office. UoK  DVC A&F Prof. Koech advised the council  not live or behave less that they should be. Prof. Oduor  the Ag. DVC PR&D asked them to be Sensible, Strong and Smart as they discharge their duties. The Dean of Student Dr. Wosyanju promised to mentor and advice them during their term in office. 

It was noted by most of the speakers that the Council was not compliant with the gender rule. The Chairman was asked to nominate ladies to increase the number of women in his council.

The newly elected students’ chairman Mr. Denis K. Chesimet, delivering his  speech , appreciated the efforts of the management and promised to serve effectively and efficiently.

The following leaders were sworn in; Chairman, Mr. Denis K. Chesimet; Vice Chairman, Gabriella Chepngeno; Secretary General Mr. Maxwell Ayieko, Finance Secretary Mr. Olonana Jacob, Secretary for Academics Mr. Denis Kipleting Chirchir, Secretary for Sports & Entertainment, Mr. Kirui Kelvin Kiptoo , Secretary for Security, Health, Accomodation & Catering, Mr Owuor Evance.
