University of Kabianga organized an extension workshop for training women from various registered women groups in Kericho and Bomet Counties which was held on Friday, 22nd June 2018. One hundred and four (104) participants (100 women and 4 men), among them people living with disabilities (PWDs) (3 men and 3 women) participated in the workshop. The participants were educated on four areas of training that were deemed to be very relevant to the improvement of the well-being and livelihoods for themselves and their families, namely:

  1.  Low cost evaporative cooler for enhanced shelf life of vegetables and fruits;
  2. Overview of lifestyle diseases, risk factors and dietary diversity;
  3. Entrepreneural skills for today's women; and
  4. Tree nursery model - seedlings for income generation.

Further, the workshop provided an opportunity for UoK to assess the impact of a previous workshop that was held on 25th February, 2016 on the wellbeing and income generation in the community. The participants also gave important information on what other priority areas of research they consider would beneficial to the community, for involvement by UoK.
