Monday 13th November, 2023 was a National Tree Planting Day. His Excellency the President; Dr. William Samoei Rutto led the country in the tree planting exercise which was done throughout all the forty seven counties of the Republic of Kenya.
Tree planting exercise in Kericho County was done in Kiboitio stream in Belgut Sub-County, Belgut Division, Kikoiyan Location, Borborwet Sub-Location. Mr. Mohamed Liban - the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Petroleum graced the occasion.
Prof. Eric Koech - the Vice-Chancellor of University of Kabianga and some staff of the institution were present and participated in the tree planting.
Other government officials, civic society, religious groups, learning institutions and the general public were there during this remarkable exercise of greening the environment and increasing forest cover. Three thousand (3,000) seedlings were planted; whereas twenty thousand (20,000) were distributed to the public.
