fbpx UoK's SNREM Receives Laboratory Equipments for the Redeal Project | University of Kabianga | Innovation and Excellence

Between 10th and 14th February 2020, the School of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (SNREM), University of Kabianga received and installed assorted laboratory equipment, chemicals and consumables as part of the collaboration agreement with its research partners under the Restoring African degraded landscapes with plant biodiversity and livestock management research Project (#ReDEAL project). The project partners are Lancaster University, University of Manchester, CIFOR, ILRI, and University of Kabianga. During the week, Laboratory technicians and technologists from SNREM, School of Science and Technology (SST), School of Agriculture and Biotechnology were trained by technologists from ILRI (Mr George Wanyama and Mr. Paul Mutuo) on the equipment operation and maintenance as well as general laboratory standard operational procedures. Among the equipment, chemicals and consumables received were: pH meter, Electrical Conductivity (EC) meter, particle size analyzer, soil sieves, measuring cylinders, drying oven, lab furnace, chemicals for aggregate stability analysis, buffer solutions for pH and EC meters, Crucibles and Lab consumables (paper filters, etc).

The handover ceremony was witnessed by the UoK’s DVC (A&SA) Prof. Elijah Omwenga who expressed gratitude to the ILRI staff and other project partners, emphasizing need for further collaboration beyond the project period.
