University of Kabianga and Universities Fund Partner on New Funding Model Implementation

The University of Kabianga (UoK) Management had a consultative meeting with the Universities Fund (UF) at the UF Headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday 12th May, 2026. The delegation, led by the Chairman of the University Council Prof. Bosire Mwebi and the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Koech (Phd; MBS) comprised of the Deputy Vice-Chancellors Prof. Dr. Fredrick Kasilly (Academic & Student Affairs), Prof. Maurice Oduor (Planning, Research & Development), the Acting Finance Officer CPA Erick Ngeny among other staff. The team was received by Dr. Edwin Wanyonyi the CEO of the Universities Fund alongside members of staff.

​The discussions centered on the continued implementation of the new higher education Funding Model, with a specific focus on ensuring the financial stability of the institution and the timely processing of student scholarships. the university management team reviewed the current capitation framework and explored ways to streamline the disbursement of funds to support the University's academic and infrastructural growth.

​Dr. Wanyonyi and the UoK team reaffirmed their commitment to a student-centered approach, ensuring that eligible learners receive the necessary financial support for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic years. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the Fund and the University to ensure a sustainable future for higher education.
