Dr. Kevit Desai, PhD, MBS, CBS, FIET, is the newly appointed University of Kabianga Chancellor. He is an esteemed leader in engineering, research, innovation, and policy development, with an extensive career spanning multiple sectors, including academia, technology, governance, and trade.
With a strong foundation in Robotics Control Systems Engineering and industrial automation Dr. Kevit Desai, PhD, MBS, CBS, FIET, has played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s technical education, vocational training, and industrial innovation landscape. Due to his contribution to the development of government and industry dialogue in the private sector, Dr. Kevit Desai, PhD, MBS, CBS, FIET, has been called to serve as Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Education, State Department of Vocational and Technical Education (TVET) from 2018 to 2020 and as Principal Secretary at the State Department for East African Community (EAC) from 2020 to 2023.
In addition to his influential role in governance, Dr. Kevit Desai, PhD, MBS, CBS, FIET, has held key leadership positions in industry associations and academic institutions. He is widely known for his contributions to the East African regional development, higher education, research policy, and private-sector engagement.
Dr. Kevit Desai, PhD, MBS, CBS, FIET, is also recognized as a successful businessman, having founded Centurion Systems Limited (CSL) 35+ years ago and brought it to be the trailblazing institution in industry transformation and adoption of Industry 4.0. in Kenya and the East African region. Centurion Systems Limited (CSL) has been instrumental in technical transfer and the development of the start-up ecosystem in Kenya.
As current Chancellor, University of Kabianga, Dr. Kevit Desai, PhD, MBS, CBS, FIET, firmly believes that equipping education institutions with insights into Industry 4.0 and the commercialization of intellectual property (IP) is vital for innovators to be successful in the rapidly evolving market.
