UoK and E4IMPACT Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Foster Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The University of Kabianga and E4IMPACT, a non-profit organization registered in Kenya with a mission to train impact entrepreneurs in the developing world, on 5th February 2025 officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in entrepreneurship, research, training, and capacity building.
The partnership recognizes the importance of addressing the evolving needs and emerging trends in research, academia, and entrepreneurship. Both institutions are committed to fostering innovation, supporting startups, and advancing policies that promote sustainable business growth. The signing was officiated by the University of Kabianga Vice Chancellor Prof Erick Koech and Prof. Mario Molteni CEO of E4IMPACT-Milan Italy and Nairobi Kenya. Present in the event were: Prof. M. Oduor(Deputy Vice Chancellor- Planning Research and Development), Prof. P.Onsare (Ag. Deputy Vice Chancelor- Academics and Student Affairs) , Prof . I Naibei ( Ag.Deputy Vice Chancelor – Administration and Finance), Prof I Mwamzandi(Director, Research Linkages and Extension), Ms. A Robai ( Legal Officer)Dr H.W Sang ( Ag. Dean School of Business and Economics) Dr Patricia Chepkwony (Entreprenuership Programme Leader) Dr S. Mule( Technology Transfer Officer) David Cheboryot ( Director E4IMPACT), Wangari Kariuki ( Lead Partnerships and Community E4IMPACT) and John Ngugi (E4IMPACT), Tom Obote and Bridgit Kangai(Student Innovators)
Key Areas of Collaboration Include:
1. Innovation and Incubation: Identifying innovations and providing acceleration and incubation services to budding entrepreneurs.
2. Training and Research: Enhancing training and research initiatives, with a focus on entrepreneurship and business development.
3.Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub: Establishing a joint Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub to nurture creative ideas and business ventures.
4. Curriculum Development: Collaborating on the design and development of relevant curricula to equip students with practical skills.
5. Joint Events: Organizing conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops, and trade fairs to share knowledge and foster networking.
6. Value Chain Development: Strengthening value chains to support sustainable business practices.
7. Startup Support: Providing resources and mentorship to startups and growing businesses.
8. Exchange Programs: Enhancing staff and student exchange programs to promote cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
This partnership marks a significant step toward empowering impact entrepreneurs and driving economic growth in the region. By combining their expertise, the University of Kabianga and E4IMPACT aim to create a lasting impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kenya and beyond.
