Appointment of New Professors

Having met the requirements of the Commission for University Education, University Standards and Guidelines (2014) Section INST/STD/04 and relevant University Policies, eligible members of the University Faculty were appointed to higher grades by University Council with effect from 24th January, 2025. The appointed members were as follows:

1.    Prof. Maurice Owino Odour, Professor (Pure Mathematics) in the Department of Mathematics, Actuarial and Physical Sciences; School of Science and Technology.

Prof. Maurice Owino Odour holds a Ph.D in Pure Mathematics from Maseno University- Kenya and had postdoctoral research stint at University of Stellenbosch (A.I.M.S) - South Africa. He has 20 years of teaching, research and administrative experience at the University level. He is an accomplished scholar who has published widely and mentored many undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is a member of many Professional Associations, an External Examiner for a number of Universities and a reviewer for a number of academic Journals. His research interest is majorly on the Structure Theory of Finite Rings.

He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Research and Development) University of Kabianga.

2.      Prof. Joyce Jepkorir Kiplimo, Associate Professor (Organic Chemistry) in the Department of Mathematics, Actuarial           and Physical Sciences; School of Science and Technology.

Prof Joyce Jepkorir Kiplimo is an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry in the School of Science and Technology, University of Kabianga. She has Twelve (12) years of teaching experience at the University.

She holds a PhD in Chemistry from University of KwaZulu-Natal South Africa, MSc in Chemistry from Egerton University and a Bachelor of Education Science from Egerton University. Prof Kiplimo is an accomplished Scholar who has published 32 articles in peer refereed journals and authored a University level Chemistry Book.

Besides publications, she has successfully supervised nine (9) post graduate students to completion and other six (6) are ongoing. Her research interests are on Natural products from medicinal plants and endophytes; she has extracted, isolated and identified compounds from the genuses Vepris, Vernonia  among others.

Prof Kiplimo is currently the Dean, School of Science and Technology, Director, University of Kabianga Enterprises and Services Limited (UKES) and serves in several other committees within the University.

3.      Prof. Williter Chepkemoi Rop, Associate Professor (Human Resource Management) in the Department of Marketing,         Management Science, Tourism and Hospitality Management; School of Business and Economics.

Professor Williter Chepkemoi Rop is an Associate Professor in Human Resource Management in School of Business and Economics, Department of Marketing, Management Science, Tourism and Hospitality, University of Kabianga.

She is a PhD holder in Human Resource Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), MBA from Kenyatta University (KU) and BEd from Moi University.

Her research interest include; Human Resource management, Strategic Management and Business Management. She brings in rich experiences in academia and leadership having served as Head of Department (Marketing, Management Science, Tourism and Hospitality ) for over 4 years, Member of UOK Senate, Member of Directorate of  Board of Graduate Studies, Committee member of Directorate of Quality Assurance among others.

She is an accomplished scholar and professional with vast experiences in Human Resource Management with proven record of over 20 years in Management and Administration and application of effective quality service delivery in institutions of higher learning.  She has 53 publications in peer refereed Journals.  She has supervised 29 postgraduate students to completion and has some continuing currently under her supervision. 

She is an experienced Human Resource Management Practitioner and consultant in Human Resource Management, Strategic Management and Corporate Governance. An active member in community service; currently serves as Trustee Finlays Community Trust (FCT), Chairperson Evangelical women Alliance (EWA) - Kericho County and also serves in several school Boards. An accomplished student mentor and has participated in development and review of various University policies and Curricula for enhancement of delivery of Quality Services.
