University of Kabianga excels at the 2025 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition – Africa Division

The University of Kabianga participated in the Africa Regional Finals of the 2025 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (CICSIC), held on July 25, 2025, at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. This renowned competition brought together top student innovators from institutions across the African continent and was co-organized by Nanjing Agricultural University (China), Kabarak University, Egerton University, and the Kenya Chinese Youth Association. A corresponding sub-venue was hosted at Nanjing Agricultural University in China.

Representing the University of Kabianga were two outstanding teams from the School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, who showcased cutting-edge innovations:

  • Biodegradable Green Mulch and Food Cling Wrap developed from crop waste
  • Nano RNA Pesticide, designed to tackle agricultural challenges with precision and sustainability.

Both teams excelled, earning Gold and Bronze Awards respectively, along with a cash prize in recognition of their creativity and commitment to solving real-world problems.

This notable success affirms the University of Kabianga’s growing reputation as a center of innovation and excellence, committed to promoting entrepreneurship and supporting student-led research and innovations.

The university extends its heartfelt congratulations to our fourth-year students- Ms. Lavender Chepkurui, Mr. Victor Apollo Teba, and Mr. Edwin Mokaya- and expresses deep appreciation to their dedicated faculty mentor, Dr. Sophia Nyamusi Ochiki, whose guidance was instrumental in this success.
