University of Kabianga Hosts Commission for University Education (CUE) for Institutional Site Inspection

Friday 29th May, 2026, marked the end of a week-long institutional site inspection at the University of Kabianga (UoK) by the Commission for University Education (CUE). The verification exercise, which commenced on Monday 25th May 2026, was conducted in line with the Universities Act (Cap 210) to assess the academic resources, infrastructure and institutional readiness that the University has established to support 12 newly proposed undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

​Throughout the exercise, the University of Kabianga team was led by Prof. Dr. Fredrick Kasilly (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic & Student Affairs), who represented the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Koech (PhD; MBS), alongside members of the UoK Academic Staff. Together with the CUE Secretariat and Peer Reviewers, they evaluated the University's readiness across key resource metrics. The teams toured facilities, examined laboratory equipment and evaluated library core texts, instructional materials, research publications and faculty staffing levels to ensure the high standards of quality assurance are met.

​The verification covered a range of proposed academic programmes designed to meet contemporary market needs. These included the Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Bachelor of Education (Arts, Science, and Guidance & Counselling), Master of Education, Master of Science options in Zoology and Botany, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology and Global Health. The inspection also reviewed vital proposed health and medical programmes including the Master of Global Public Health, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing, B.Sc. in Clinical Medicine and B.Sc. in Public Health.

​The University of Kabianga extends its appreciation to the panel of CUE representatives and Peer Reviewers whose institutional feedback, standards and validation are invaluable to UoK's growth. The University commends the team of scholars and professionals who spearheaded the various verification tracks, including Prof. Ruth Otunga (Moi University), Prof. Chrispinus Mulambalah (Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology), Prof. Donald Otieno (University of Eldoret), Prof. Ogonji Agure (Maseno University), Prof. Mueni Ndiku (University of Eastern Africa, Baraton), Dr. Paul Ogenga, Dr. Joyce Nthiiri, Dr. Bethwell Owuor (Kisii University), Eng. Philip Onyango, Mr. Joseph Kamau, Ms. Jane Mureithi, Ms. Sarah Ooro and Ms. Asha Mpau.

University of Kabianga remains anchored to its mission of providing high quality training, research and extension services, hence, the completion of this vital site inspection was a milestone towards expanding academic horizons, fostering innovation and shaping the next generation of global professionals.
