UoK and KCB Partner to Boost Student Empowerment and Sustainability
A consultative meeting between University of Kabianga and Kenya Commercial Bank was held on Monday 20th April, 2026 at the University.The meeting which comprised of the University of Kabianga team led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Koech(PhD; MBS) included Prof. Isaac Naibei (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration & Finance), Prof. Wycliffe Wanyonyi (Director, Quality Assurance), CPA Erick Ngeny (Acting. Finance Officer) and Rev. Samson Abong' (University Chaplain). The KCB Foundation and Bank team was represented by Mr. David Kemei (Regional Corporate Business Lead, South Rift), Mr. Stephen Matee (Senior Programme Manager, Education), Mr. Benson Masero (Programme Manager), Ms. Scandy Chepkurui (Branch Manager), Mr. Felix Rono and Ms. Joan Kirui(Relationship Managers, Kericho).
The discussions focused on a powerful new partnership designed to empower the student body. From enhancing financial literacy and mentorship to providing critical support through the 2jiajiri entrepreneurship programme, the collaboration aims to ensure students are well-equipped for self-employment and the modern job market.
The meeting highlighted on immediate University improvements, including student branding projects and solarization initiatives to create a more sustainable learning environment. Beyond infrastructure, both teams expressed a commitment to fostering community spirit through upcoming peace concerts and cultural exchange programs. By bridging the gap between the banking sector and academia, KCB and UoK are laying a solid foundation for student success, ensuring that the next generation of leaders has the financial tools and professional backing to thrive.
