UoK Hosts Lipton Tea and Infusions Team

The University of Kabianga (UoK) on Thursday 14th March, 2024 received a delegation from Lipton Tea and Infusions led by Dr. Helen Saini. Accompanying her were Ms. Judy Mwangi, Mr. Gabriel Tuwei both of Lipton Tea and Infusions and Mr. Paul M. Murithi of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).

The team visited the University following the official launch of the Lipton Tea Innovations and Technology Academy on 22nd February, 2024 by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

The presence of the Academy at the University will explore and enhance research and training in Kenya and the world on matters related to the tea industry.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Koech who led the University team which received the visitors appreciated the partnership between UoK, Lipton Tea and Infusions, TVETA, Commission for University Education (CUE) and the government. He promised his full commitment to see to it that the Academy realizes its objective.

Towards greening the environment and increasing forest cover, the team had the privilege to plant indigenous tree seedlings in the University grounds.
