UoK Partners with Global Tea Leaders for 2026 Symposium
On February 13th, 2026, the University of Kabianga (UoK) led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Koech(Ph.D, MBS) and the Dean School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Prof. Peter Sirma hosted a consultative meeting featuring key stakeholders from the Kenyan tea sector. The team included representatives from the Tea Board of Kenya (TBK), the KALRO-Tea Research Institute and Fairtrade Africa.
The primary objective of this visit was to coordinate the upcoming Symposium at the University of Kabianga scheduled for April 9th, 2026. This event serves as a critical precursor to the global International Tea Day celebrations on May 21st, 2026.
The collaboration aims to address the evolving landscape of the tea industry through several strategic pillars which include; Research and Innovation, Sustainability and Ethics, Value Addition, Policy and Regulation.
