​UoK Partners with Global Tea Leaders for 2026 Symposium

On February 13th, 2026, the University of Kabianga (UoK) led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Koech(Ph.D, MBS) and the Dean School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Prof. Peter Sirma hosted a consultative meeting featuring key stakeholders from the Kenyan tea sector. The team included representatives from the Tea Board of Kenya (TBK), the KALRO-Tea Research Institute and Fairtrade Africa.

​The primary objective of this visit was to coordinate the upcoming Symposium at the University of Kabianga scheduled for April 9th, 2026. This event serves as a critical precursor to the global International Tea Day celebrations on May 21st, 2026.

​​The collaboration aims to address the evolving landscape of the tea industry through several strategic pillars which include; ​Research and Innovation, ​Sustainability and Ethics, ​Value Addition, Policy and Regulation.
