Youth Festival Buildup towards International Tea Day 2026

The Youth Festival and Tea Innovations Exhibition, held at the University of Kabianga, centered on the theme "Fostering Growth and Inclusion"  officially kicked off the build-up activities towards the International Tea Day 2026 to be celebrated on 21st May, 2026. Launched on 17th April, 2026 by Mr. Willy Mutai, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tea Board of Kenya (representing the Principal Secretary), the event served as a high-energy platform to position the next generation at the forefront of the industry. By bridging the gap between academic research and commercial investment, the festival transformed the University into a vibrant environment for young leaders ready to drive Kenya’s tea revolution.

The energy in the institution was epic as attendees explored a series of innovations gallery. The showcase featured the best of Kenya's specialty teas including purple, green, white and orthodox varieties alongside  tea-based food items that redefine how we consume our favorite brew of tea. Beyond the exhibits, the festival focused on empowering young entrepreneurs through research presentations and insights into investment opportunities, effectively moving the conversation from the lecture hall to the boardroom.

The day was packed with interactive tea-tasting challenges and preparation demonstrations that brought the art of tea to life. The spirit of community and wellness was further celebrated through a high-spirited football tournament for both genders sponsored by the Kipchimchim Group, proving that the tea industry is as much about teamwork and heritage as it is about entrepreneurship.

This milestone event was made possible through the incredible support of our partners and sponsors; the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Development, University of Kabianga (UoK), Tea Board of Kenya, Kipchimchim Group, Cooperative Bank Kericho, Equity Bank Litein Branch, Siomo Tea Factory EPZ, Evergreen Tea Factory, Kabianga Tea Factory, Momul Tea Factory, Fairtrade Africa, Tea Research Institute (TRI), KALRO Tea Research, KTDA and the County Government of Kericho.

Together, we are moulding a brighter, more inclusive future for Kenyan tea.
